4 GCSEs grade 3 or above to include English Language and Maths and a Level 1 qualification in Brickwork.
Entrants who do not have a grade 4 in Maths and/or English will continue studying these subjects at the college.
Applicants with 1-5 years' relevant industry experience will also be considered.
You'll study a range of units which are designed to give you the grounding you need to enter the construction industry.
The following topics will provide you with the knowledge and skills to allow you to progress to the next level of study.
Principals or organising, planning and pricing construction work
Repair and maintain masonry structures
Constructing radial and battered brickwork
Carrying out decorative and reinforced brickwork
Constructing fireplaces and chimneys
Complex masonry structures
Health, safety and welfare in construction
There is no specific work experience required or undertaken for this course.
However, our bespoke workshops are designed to replicate a workplace environment and will allow you to feel comfortable in a professional setting.
In addition, you will be encouraged to show off your talents in cross-college skills competitions.
Upon completion of this course, you'll be in the ideal position to progress onto the next level of study.
However, you may also wish to pursue an apprenticeship or go into employment in roles such as construction worker, bricklayer or building maintenance.
